sms received at 3:30am : "Abandoned swim after 15.5 hours due to foul weather - 3 miles off the coast of france. What an effort!"


The spirit was willing but the flesh was weak.

  12. 15.5 hours - that’s longer than most people can stay awake, let alone swim… It’s unfortunate that the French coast was not welcoming but nonetheless, what an inspiring achievement! Well done on the amazing effort.

  16. Tough call Andy - but one you should be proud of. The Channel is like a crotchy old lady, and you have to seduce her slowly and gently before she may allow you to cross! You have all the necessary attributes and I sincerely hope you aim for it again next year.
